How do I enrol into a first aid course?

To enrol into a first aid course please either book via clicking the direct link on the courses pages or proceed to the ‘Online Learning’ tab. If you are an existing customer, you will need to sign into your account. Forgotten password? No problem, click on the ‘Forgot Password’ to reset. If you do not have an account, click on the ‘No account? Create one’ button. Once logged in you will be able to see the list of provided courses and be able to enrol into your preferred course. 

What course do I enrol in?
For most people HLTAID011 – provide first aid is the first aid course relevant to their needs. It is then recommended to do CPR every year thereafter until needing to renew first aid again (valid for 3 years). For those that work in childcare, you will be required to enrol into HLTAID012 provide first aid in an education and care setting. 
What is a USI number and why do I need it?
A USI (unique student identifier) is a free government issued number for Australian students which creates a lifelong online record of your nationally recognised training. A USI number is a unique 10 character code which identifies you.  
I don’t have a USI number. How do I make one?

To create a USI number please go to www.usi.gov.au and click on ‘Create your USI’ to create one.  Please note that you will require I.D for this process. 

I’ve lost my USI number. How do I find it?

To retrieve your USI number please visit the website www.usi.gov.au and click on the ‘Find your USI’ button. 

How long does my qualification last?
The validity period for each first aid certificate varies depending on the type of course you have completed. Below outlines the validity of each course. 
 
  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation – 12 months 
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid – 3 years 
  • HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting – 3 years 
  • CPR + LVR – 12 months 
  • Advanced Resus – 12 months 
  • Asthma Management - 3 years 
  • Anaphylaxis Management - 3 years

It is recommended that you complete First aid the first year with CPR every year in between. Please note that it is important to renew your certificates before they expire to maintain your skills and compliance. 
How much does it cost to do a first aid course?
The cost of our first aid courses varies depending on the course type and location and number of participants.  Please click on the courses tab and select the appropriate course to find pricing. For large groups, please contact us directly for competitive pricing.  
Where will my certificate be recognised?
First Aid Alive is a registered training organisation (RTO 31106) meaning our courses and certificates are nationally recognised throughout Australia. These qualifications meet all compliance standards and are accepted for employment wherever required by your employer. 
What do I need to bring for my first aid training?
There’s no need to bring anything along to your first aid training. If you enjoy taking notes, a pen and notepad may be handy. Since CPR practice takes place on the floor, you’re welcome to bring a pillow or towel to support your knees and keep you comfortable. 
What do I need to have done before the practical face-2-face training?
We kindly ask that you review all online e-learning content and complete the online assessments prior to attending your practical training session. In accordance with regulatory requirements, the e-learning component must be completed before participating in the face-to-face practical training and assessment. 
To access the e-learning, please visit our website, enrol in your course, to do so navigate to the Online Learning tab. Additionally, ensure that your online enrolment form has been completed with your correct date of birth and Unique Student Identifier (USI) number. 
What will I be required to do for practical face-2-face training?
During the practical session, you will be required to perform two minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin positioned on the floor. You will also be assessed on key first aid skills, including applying bandages, fitting slings, and demonstrating the correct use of an EpiPen. For further details, please refer to the supporting document provided at the conclusion of your e-learning package. 
Where will I do my practical training?
FAA can provide your first aid training in one of two locations.  
  1. Onsite Workplace training: We can come to your workplace and deliver the training at your workplace.  
  2. Venue Training: For individuals we provide onsite training at The Centenary Salvation Army – Corner of Lalina and McFarlane St. Riverhills, Brisbane. 4074. 
When and how do I get my certificate?

If you have successfully completed the theory component, have filled out your enrolment form correctly and attended and got competency in the practical training session you will be eligible for your statement of attainment.  If you have fulfilled all the requirements, then it will either be sent via email to yourself or your workplace or alternatively you can sign back in under ‘Online Learning’ and hit the ‘My enrolments’ to find your certificate. If you have any concerns, please feel free to email us at info@firstaidalive.com.au. We do our best to send out certifications as soon as we possibly can.  

How do I pay for my selected course?

Payment is required at the time of booking. Workplaces that have arranged invoicing may use the designated coupon code at checkout. This code will be issued by First Aid Alive (FAA) directly to your supervisor. 

What if I cannot attend my course?
Students who cannot attend may rebook their course for an alternative date. Conditions do apply. Please call to advise as soon as possible.

Training Across Regions

First Aid Alive delivers training across multiple regions through approved co-providers who use our online learning platform. Upon course completion, all students receive certificates issued by First Aid Alive (RTO 31106).

  • For training in Central Queensland (e.g., Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Gladstone), you may have trained with a co-provider. Please contact them directly regarding your booking. 

  • For training in the Gold Coast or Northern NSW, your course may have been conducted by another approved co-provider. Please contact them directly regarding specific enquiries. 

All co-providers follow First Aid Alive’s nationally recognised training standards and issue our certificates.

How long does the first aid course take?

With our accelerated delivery, the theory component can be completed online at your own pace. The practical assessment typically takes 30–45 minutes for CPR, and an additional 30–45 minutes for First Aid. Prefer to complete everything in person? You can also do the full course face-to-face. For detailed timeframes, feel free to contact us.

How long is my certificate valid for?

Certificate validity varies depending on the course. Here's a quick guide:

  • CPR: 1 year

  • Provide First Aid: 3 years

  • Childcare/Education First Aid: 3 years

  • CPR/LVR: 1 year

  • Asthma Management: 3 years

  • Anaphylaxis Management: 3 years

  • Apply Workplace Health & Safety: No renewal required

  • Advanced Resuscitation: 1 year

We recommend renewing your certificates before they expire to stay up-to-date and compliant.

When will I receive my certificate?

You’ll receive your certificate on the same day, provided you’ve completed the online theory and attended the required practical training. Once competency is confirmed in both areas, your certificate will be issued promptly.

Where is my certificate recognised?

All First Aid Alive certificates are nationally recognised across Australia and fully accredited under our Registered Training Organisation (RTO 31106). They’re valid for employment and meet industry compliance standards.

What do I need to bring to training?

Please bring the following with you:

Where can I attend in-person training?

You have two convenient options:

1. Workplace Training:
We can come to your location for on-site training (minimum numbers apply).

2. Venue Training:
Join us at one of our regular training venues.

Can you deliver training at our workplace?

Yes, we offer on-site training at your workplace. A minimum of 10 participants is generally required, but we’re happy to accommodate smaller groups where possible. Contact us to discuss your needs.

When is payment due?
  • For individuals: Payment is made on-site at the time of training — no upfront payment required!

  • For organisations: Payment is due within 7 days of invoice.
