This unit should be assessed after completing HLTFA301B Apply First Aid. Participants must provide a copy of a current Apply First Aid certification if not completed with First Aid Alive. |

To deliver competency in skills and knowledge required to provide first aid to a casualty in a remote and/or isolated situation. |

| Assessment |
Automated External Defibrillation has both practical and theoretical elements, where participants demonstrate procedures of techniques used and exhibit the necessary knowledge on the Automated External Defibrillator. |
| Content |
- Knowledge of communication systems, equipment and methods in the remote situation
- Effective communication techniques
- Principles for preparing for safe evacuation (including aero-medical evacuation)
- Evaluating management options relation to transporting casualty and/or waiting for assistance
- Use of resources for effective pain management
- Administer medication under direct instruction from authorised health worker
- Principles for identifying and preparing supplies to address different types of situations
- Awareness of stress management techniques and available support

| Validity |
The Statement of Attainment remains valid for three years from the completion date. |
